Laudáció Perka Mihály Csángómagyarságért Díjához
The award for contribution to Csángó Hungarian Culture 2025 was given to Perka Mihály teacher, school director, local historian of the western Moldavian town of Szabófalva/Săbăoani, Romania. Born in Szabófalva in 1938, Perka Mihály went to school there, then in the nearby larger town of Románvásár/Roman and finally at Bolyai University in Kolozsvár/Cluj-Napoca in the history department. At his own request he was appointed to teach in his hometown, where has he remained and taught until retirement. In 2012 he published an important volume on the cultural history and language of the local Hungarian Moldavian communities. He has established an ethnographic collection and advocated for school instruction in the mother tongue (Hungarian). The award was presented by the Association of Csángó Hungarians in a dual language (Hungarian, Romanian) ceremony and event. Announcement and laudation by Iancu Laura.
