Copán György bálványosváraljai furulyás-énekes népzenei világa
Book review: [The folk music world of singer, peasant flute player Copán György of Bálványosváralja/Unguraș]– Hungarian Heritage House, 2022. The main focus of this two volume publication by Nesztor Iván and Lehőcz Alexandra is the detailed examination (notation and analysis) of the melodies played on flute and sung by Copán György of the Transylvanian village of Bálványosváralja/Unguraș in Kolozs/Cluj County. Also includedis examination of Copán’s mode of ornamentation and summary of his unique performance style, along with texts from interviews with Copán containing ethnographic information. “The special value of this publication is that the repertoire – both sung and played on flute – is presented in parallel. The interview excerpts provide a picture of Copán’s personality, environment and memories.” Review by Pásku Veronika.
